US Vice President J.D. Vance has left Pakistan shortly after announcing that talks with Iran had failed to reach any agreement. Vance and the US delegation departed Islamabad for Washington aboard Air Force Two, waving from the aircraft stairs before takeoff.
The Pakistan‑mediated trilateral “Islamabad Dialogue” began on Saturday (11 April) and concluded early Sunday (12 April), lasting nearly 21 hours. Following the talks, Vance held a press conference where he confirmed that the discussions had ended without a breakthrough.
Vance said, “We talked for 21 hours and had several important discussions that’s the good news. The bad news is that we did not reach any deal.” He added that the United States had come to the talks with a “flexible mindset” and “good faith,” but both sides ultimately failed to find common ground.
According to Vance, the US delegation’s approach demonstrated that Washington was serious about pursuing diplomacy, even though the outcome was disappointing.
