JD Vance Says He’ll Dig Into UFO Files and Claims “Aliens Are Demons”

US Vice President JD Vance says he plans to dive deep into government records on unidentified flying objects, adding a provocative personal belief: he thinks aliens are actually demons.

Speaking with conservative podcaster Benny Johnson on Friday, Vance laughed as he admitted he hasn’t yet had time to fully explore the issue. “I have not been able to spend enough time on this to really understand it, but I am going to, trust me. I’m obsessed with this,” he said. “I’ve still got three more years as vice president. I will get to the bottom of the UFO files.”

The conversation followed President Donald Trump’s February directive ordering federal agencies to begin identifying and releasing UFO‑related documents. Trump said he acted “based on the tremendous interest shown,” shortly after former president Barack Obama publicly stated that aliens were “real,” though he had never seen them. Trump later accused Obama of revealing classified information.

Vance, however, offered his own interpretation. “I don’t think they’re aliens. I think they’re demons,” he told Johnson, describing them as Christian‑theological “celestial beings who fly around who do weird things to people.”

Despite the renewed political fascination, no evidence has ever been produced to support the existence of extraterrestrial life.

Interest in UFOs has surged in recent years as the US government investigated numerous reports of unusual aircraft amid concerns that foreign adversaries might be testing advanced technologies. But a Pentagon report released in March 2024 found no proof that unidentified aerial phenomena were alien in origin, with many sightings later identified as weather balloons, satellites, spy planes or other routine activity.
