Russian Strike Kills Three Children in Eastern Ukraine

2 min read

A Russian attack on the eastern Ukrainian city of Bogodukhiv has killed four people, including three very young children, in one of the most devastating single strikes reported in recent weeks.

Regional military chief Oleg Synegubov said two one‑year‑old boys and a two‑year‑old girl died when their home was hit. A 34‑year‑old man in the same house succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward. A 74‑year‑old woman was also wounded and is receiving medical treatment.

Synegubov added that a 35‑year‑old pregnant woman was injured in the strike, underscoring the growing civilian toll as Russian forces intensify attacks across the Kharkiv region. Bogodukhiv, located northwest of Kharkiv city, has faced repeated assaults targeting transport links and energy infrastructure.

The tragedy comes as Ukrainian and Russian officials continue US‑mediated talks in Abu Dhabi aimed at ending Moscow’s four‑year invasion. A prisoner exchange last week offered a rare moment of progress, but a broader agreement to halt the conflict remains distant.

According to the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, nearly 15,000 civilians have been killed since Russia launched its full‑scale invasion in February 2022. The mission reports that 2025 was the deadliest year so far, with more than 2,500 civilian deaths.
