Melinda French Gates has spoken publicly after newly released Jeffrey Epstein documents listed the name of her former husband, Bill Gates. In a conversation on NPR journalist Rachel Martin’s podcast, Melinda said the revelations have brought back “deeply painful moments” from her marriage, leaving her emotionally shaken.
She explained that learning of Gates’ alleged links to Epstein has been mentally difficult, but made it clear she does not wish to know further details and has no intention of answering questions about it. In her view, “those whose names appear in the documents should respond not me.”
The court‑ordered release on January 30 unveiled nearly three million pages of previously sealed Epstein files. The documents describe how Epstein built a private empire across 75 acres in the US Virgin Islands, hosting influential political figures, government officials, celebrities, and sports personalities. The files claim Bill Gates visited the island several times as a guest.
Gates has not made any public comment since the documents were released. His spokesperson, however, dismissed the allegations as “false, absurd, and baseless.”
