US President Donald Trump has released a list detailing what percentage of immigrant households from 120 countries receive government assistance in the United States. The chart, posted Sunday (4 January) on Trump’s social platform Truth Social, shows that over 54% of Bangladeshi immigrant families in the US rely on some form of public assistance.
This information is consistent with reports from multiple outlets, including The News and Firstpost.
India Missing From the List
The list includes almost all South Asian countries except India, though the reason for India’s exclusion remains unclear, according to Business Standard.
The US provides various forms of support to eligible immigrant households, including:
Food assistance
Public healthcare
Rental support
Other welfare programs
Countries With the Highest Welfare Usage
According to Trump’s published chart:
Bhutan tops the list with 81.4% of immigrant households receiving assistance
Yemen follows with 75.2%
Somalia is third with 71.9%
South Asian Breakdown
Among South Asian nations:
Bangladesh: 54.8%
Afghanistan: 68.1%
Pakistan: 40.2%
Nepal: 34.8%
These figures were highlighted in Trump’s “Immigrant Welfare Recipient Rates by Country of Origin” chart, which categorizes welfare usage by immigrants’ country of birth.
