Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has announced that the government will take full responsibility for the wife and only child of Sharif Osman Hadi, the Inqilab Moncho spokesperson who passed away on Thursday night while receiving treatment at Singapore General Hospital.
In a national address, Yunus expressed deep shock and sorrow at Hadi’s untimely death and extended heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and all who stood by him.
A Key Figure of the July Uprising
Hadi, one of the prominent leaders of the July Uprising, was shot and critically injured on 12 December on Box Culvert Road in Dhaka’s Paltan area. He suffered severe bullet wounds to the head.
He was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery, and was later shifted to Evercare Hospital the same night. On Monday, he was flown to Singapore by air ambulance for advanced treatment, but doctors were unable to save him.
Political Aspirations Cut Short
Before his death, Hadi was preparing to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming national election from the Dhaka‑8 constituency, marking a significant step in his political journey.
His passing has sparked widespread grief and renewed discussions about political violence and security in the country.
