Law Adviser Asif Nazrul has clarified that the Law Ministry had no role in the High Court’s decision to grant bail to Faisal Karim Masud, who is accused of attempting to kill Sharif Osman Hadi in a shooting incident.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday night, Nazrul emphasized that the High Court operates as an independent judicial body, and its bail rulings are not subject to ministry influence.
He expressed concern over what he described as “abnormal” bail decisions in serious criminal cases, warning that releasing violent offenders who may reoffend poses a serious threat to public safety.
Nazrul also urged those allegedly involved in “bail trading” to stop, stressing that such practices were endangering lives and undermining trust in the justice system.l
