Fourth Measles Case Confirmed After Jelly Roll Concert in Brisbane, Authorities Urge Vigilance

1 min read

A fourth case of measles has been confirmed following last month’s Jelly Roll concert at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, prompting health authorities to warn attendees to remain alert for symptoms. Queensland Health’s Metro South unit reported that the latest case was identified in the Logan region, after three earlier cases linked to the October 24 concert were confirmed on Wednesday.

Officials said the individual was unknowingly infectious while visiting several locations, including the Mustangs Brothers Football Club (November 8), Mullein Pharmacy at Hillcrest (November 12), and the Logan Hospital Emergency Department (November 12-14). Contact tracing is underway, and those potentially exposed will be notified.

Health Minister Tim Nicholls said tracing efforts continue, noting that nearly all of the cases originated overseas. He urged anyone experiencing symptoms to seek medical advice but cautioned against visiting emergency departments directly, warning: “That is how it gets spread.”

The outbreak underscores the importance of vaccination and vigilance, as measles remains highly contagious and can spread rapidly in public settings.
