Egypt have secured their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, sealing qualification for the fourth time in their history with a commanding 3-0 victory over Djibouti in Casablanca.
The Pharaohs, who first appeared on the world stage in 1934 and later in 1990 and 2018, missed out on the last edition in Qatar but will return next year as the 19th team to book their spot in the expanded 48-nation tournament.
Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah was once again the driving force, scoring twice to guide his side to victory and cement their position as Group A champions with 23 points from nine matches. Even with one game still to play, Egypt are now mathematically assured of qualification.
Salah has been in prolific form throughout the campaign, netting nine goals to finish as the top scorer in the African qualifiers so far. His brace against Djibouti, alongside Ibrahim Adel’s opener, ensured Egypt’s dominance and underlined their resurgence on the continental stage.
The win not only confirmed Egypt’s return to the World Cup after an eight-year absence but also reinforced Salah’s status as the nation’s talisman, carrying the hopes of millions as they prepare for football’s biggest stage once again.
