NZ Post Halts Most US Deliveries Amid Tariff Turmoil

1 min read

New Zealand Post has temporarily stopped most shipments to the United States due to uncertainty surrounding upcoming American import tariffs. The suspension began on August 21, ahead of a new 15% tariff set to take effect on August 29.

For now, only essential mail like passports and legal documents will make it through. The decision mirrors actions taken by several other countries, including India and Germany, after the US announced it would end tax exemptions on small international packages.

Although the US began rolling out tariffs back in April, many are only now being enforced after extended negotiations. NZ Post says it’s working swiftly to adjust its services and hopes to resume normal deliveries soon.
