Age is clearly no barrier for South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir, who just etched his name into the record books with a dazzling performance in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025. Playing for the Guyana Amazon Warriors, the 46-year-old veteran delivered a masterclass in spin bowling, claiming 5 wickets for just 21 runs in four overs including a maiden against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.
Tahir’s spell began with a googly that outfoxed Shakib Al Hasan, leading to a sharp stumping. He then dismantled the Falcons’ middle and lower order, removing Imad Wasim, Shamar Springer, Usama Mir, and Obed McCoy in quick succession. His efforts helped Guyana secure a dominant 83-run victory and marked his career-best T20 bowling figures.
With this performance, Tahir became the oldest captain to take a five-wicket haul in T20 cricket and joined an elite group of bowlers with five career T20 fifers equaling legends like Lasith Malinga, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shaheen Afridi, and Shakib Al Hasan. His enduring brilliance proves that in cricket, class truly is permanent.
