Light Aircraft Crash-Lands on Sydney Golf Course, Two Injured

1 min read

A light aircraft crash-landed on a golf course in Sydney’s Northern Beaches on Sunday afternoon, leaving two men with minor injuries. The incident occurred just after 2pm during a routine training flight, with both an instructor and a student pilot on board.

The aircraft came down on the fairway of Mona Vale Golf Club, startling nearby players. The plane sustained visible damage, including a broken wing and detached landing gear. Despite the impact, both occupants managed to escape serious harm.

Paramedics treated the men, both in their 50s, at the scene before transferring them to hospital for further evaluation. One of the men suffered minor facial injuries, while the other was shaken but stable.

Initial reports suggest the crash may have been caused by engine trouble, though the exact reason remains under investigation. The aircraft had earlier departed from the Illawarra region and made a brief stop before continuing north.

Authorities are assessing the circumstances surrounding the forced landing and inspecting the wreckage. The golf course was temporarily closed as emergency crews secured the area and removed the damaged aircraft.
