Muhammad Yunus Begins Three-Day State Visit to Malaysia

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus departed for Malaysia this afternoon, beginning a three-day official visit. He boarded a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 2:00pm, accompanied by his delegation.

The visit includes several high-level engagements. On August 12, Prof Yunus will attend a business conference and later meet Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya. The two leaders are expected to hold bilateral talks, followed by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two nations.

On arrival, Prof Yunus will be welcomed with a guard of honour. Malaysian Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail will officially receive him.

The following day, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia will confer an honorary doctorate degree on Prof Yunus, recognizing his contributions to global development and social innovation.
