Ukrainian Drones Strike Russian City of Izhevsk, Killing Three

Ukrainian drones launched an attack on the Russian city of Izhevsk on Tuesday, killing three people and injuring dozens. Authorities described it as one of the deepest strikes inside Russia during the three-year conflict.

Izhevsk, located more than 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) from the front line, is known for its arms manufacturing, including factories that produce attack drones and the famous Kalashnikov rifles. A Ukrainian security source claimed Kyiv targeted an Izhevsk-based drone manufacturer, disrupting Moscow’s military capabilities.

Unverified social media videos showed drones flying over the city, with one footage capturing a ball of flames erupting from a building’s roof. The region’s head, Alexander Brechalov, said the drones hit an industrial “enterprise” but did not specify further details.

“Unfortunately, we have three fatalities. Our deepest condolences go to their families,” Brechalov wrote on Telegram. He added that 35 people are hospitalized, with 10 in serious condition.

In retaliation, Russian forces struck the town of Guliaipole in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region, causing casualties and fatalities, though exact numbers were not disclosed.

Diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict have stalled recently. Although the two sides held direct talks nearly a month ago, Moscow has since intensified its strikes on Ukraine. Kyiv’s military leadership has vowed to escalate its offensive, promising to increase the scale and depth of strikes on Russia as the conflict continues to deepen.
