A man linked to a violent home invasion west of Brisbane has been refused bail following allegations of a frightening incident where the homeowner was “fired on” as he tried to escape. The incident unfolded at a rural property in Purga, within the Ipswich region, prompting a prolonged police operation.

Police responded to the address around 4:35 pm on Monday, initiating a lockdown of the area as specialist officers engaged with a group of suspects for more than five hours. The tense standoff resulted in the arrest of three individuals, each facing multiple serious charges.

The accused are 34-year-old Nikolaus Alexander Blyton from Nerang, 32-year-old Angus Gerald Roeton from Kensington Grove, and 29-year-old Grace Kelly Michinton from Willow Vale. They face two counts each of entering a premises with intent to commit an indictable offence, along with charges of serious assault officer while armed with a weapon, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, authority required to possess explosives, and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

Mr Blyton sought bail during a hearing at the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning. However, police prosecutor Senior Constable Matt Donaldson described the allegations as “extremely serious,” leading to the court’s decision to deny the application.
