India has conducted missile strikes across several locations in Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir, claiming to have targeted a total of nine sites overnight. According to the Pakistani government, the attacks resulted in the deaths of at least eight Pakistanis and injuries to 35 others. The strikes also targeted two mosques in Pakistan, with reports confirming casualties and damage, as reported by Pakistani media outlet Geo News on Wednesday, May 7.

Major General Ahmed Sharif Shaikh, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan’s military media wing, confirmed the casualties, stating that eight Pakistanis had been killed and 35 injured in the Indian attacks. He added that, early Wednesday morning, Information Minister Atif Tareen announced that preliminary reports indicate two civilians are missing. Shaikh further stated that India launched a total of 24 strikes across six Pakistani locations.

One of the most significant targets was the Masjid-e-Abbas in Kotli, where Indian forces attacked a mosque, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man. An additional woman and her daughter were injured in the attack. The ISPR chief said Indian forces also targeted civilian areas, including hospitals and residential buildings, in their strikes.

In Muridke, another mosque was hit, causing one death and injuring another person. Shaikh added that the city experienced four separate attacks. In Shakargarh, shells fell in the Kotli Loharan village, but no damages or injuries have been reported, and another shell exploded in an uninhabited area.

Additionally, two Indian attacks in Shakargarh damaged a local medical facility. The Pakistani military spokesperson described these strikes as “blatant aggression against civilian infrastructure.” Shaikh further stated that members of the national and international media would be taken to the affected areas during daylight hours so they could witness “India’s clear aggression firsthand.”
