A tragic car crash north of Sale in Victoria’s Gippsland region has resulted in two fatalities and two people fighting for their lives in hospital. The incident occurred around 3:45 pm on Briagolong Road near the small town of Briagolong.
The crash is believed to have involved a vehicle that rolled over before hitting a barricade. Emergency services arrived to find two people already dead at the scene.
A woman in her 30s and a teenage girl were treated by paramedics at the scene. They were then airlifted to hospitals in Melbourne in a critical condition. The woman has been taken to the Alfred Hospital, while the teenager was flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Victoria Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash. All four occupants of the vehicle have yet to be formally identified. The authorities are working to determine exactly what led to the accident and will continue their inquiries.
