Israel appears to be waging a relentless campaign of violence, engaging in attacks on two fronts despite a declared ceasefire. This disregard for international norms has sparked growing anxiety and trepidation within the global community.
On Monday night, Israel conducted airstrikes not only in the Gaza Strip but also in southern Syria. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the attacks in a late-night statement. According to the state news agency SANA, the airstrikes in southern Syria’s Dara city resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to 19 others.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights released a statement on Tuesday, noting that Israel claims to have targeted military installations of the former government in southern Syria. However, since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government, these sites have been under the control of the current Syrian regime, suggesting that Monday’s attacks were in fact directed against the current ruling government of Syria.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Air Force also carried out airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Monday night, resulting in the deaths of over 200 Palestinians. These actions have raised alarm internationally, prompting condemnation from human rights organizations. Israel’s operations have further complicated the already volatile situation in the Middle East.
