Tarique Rahman, Acting Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has called on the interim government to swiftly establish a clear roadmap for the upcoming parliamentary elections, urging them to bypass any plans for local government elections. Speaking at the party’s extended meeting at the LD Hall of parliament, Rahman emphasized the urgency of the matter.
“Skip any plan of holding local government elections; declare a specific roadmap for the Jatiya Sangsad election,” he asserted, highlighting the need for prompt action.
In his address, Rahman cautioned the interim government to remain vigilant against what he described as conspiracies from a “fallen fascist” faction. He accused those plotting against the BNP of continuing their schemes and promised that the party would not fall into the traps set by the “ousted mafia gang.”
Moreover, he reaffirmed the BNP’s commitment to holding accountable those responsible for crimes against humanity, should the party regain power in the next elections. Rahman also urged party members to exercise caution in their public statements, emphasizing the importance of careful communication during these turbulent times.
