A father of two young girls remains in critical condition after an alleged assault outside a beach club in Hillarys, following Melbourne Cup celebrations. Glen Cahill, 43, sustained serious head and facial injuries and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital on Tuesday evening after being struck outside the venue.
Mr. Cahill had been with his wife, Tarryn, waiting for a rideshare vehicle when he was allegedly approached by a 40-year-old man, who, according to police, was behaving in an “intimidating manner” before becoming involved in a physical confrontation. During the altercation, the man reportedly punched Mr. Cahill in the face, causing him to fall backward and strike his head on the road.
Security personnel detained the alleged assailant until authorities arrived, and he was subsequently taken into custody. Mr. Cahill’s family expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, saying, “Glen is a devoted dad to two girls aged four and six and a loving husband to Tarryn. He has an army of family and friends surrounding him with love and support at this tough time.”
The accused has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and faced a magistrate in court on Wednesday. He did not apply for bail and remains in custody, with another court appearance scheduled for November 22, where he is expected to seek bail.
