International Mother Language Day celebrated in Sydney

International Mother Language Day was celebrated in Sydney, Australia. At the beginning of the day on 21 February, the Consul General in Sydney inaugurated the program by flying the flag at half-mast.

After this, wreaths were placed on the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, foreign minister’s speech was read, and prayers were prayed for the souls of the martyrs of the great language movement.

The second phase started in the afternoon of the Bangladesh Consulate General, Sydney in the presence of expatriates living in New South Wales on the occasion of Great Martyr’s Day and International Mother Language Day.

Recitations from the Holy Quran, Gita and Bible were read after the program started with the National Anthem. A minute’s silence was observed in honor of the language martyrs. On the occasion of Great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day, the Presidents and Prime Minister’s speeches were read out to the audience.
