Zelensky Heads to Berlin for High-Stakes Peace Talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will travel to Berlin on Monday for a series of crucial meetings with European leaders and the heads of the EU and NATO. His visit comes at a pivotal moment in ongoing efforts to end the war in Ukraine.

Zelensky is scheduled to attend a German-Ukrainian business forum before holding talks with Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Discussions will center on the current status of peace negotiations in Ukraine.

Later in the evening, multiple European heads of state and government, along with senior EU and NATO officials, will join the talks. Among those expected to attend is Britain’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The Berlin meeting is part of an intense wave of diplomacy surrounding a peace plan first proposed last month by US President Donald Trump. Ukrainian officials confirmed this week that they have submitted an updated version of the plan to Washington, expanding on Trump’s original 28-point framework.
