In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Bangladesh’s Under-19 cricket team has once again showcased their prowess by successfully defending their Men’s U-19 Asia Cup title. The young Tigers triumphed over India in the final, securing their second consecutive championship and solidifying their standing as the best in Asia.
In recognition of this outstanding achievement, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, alongside the National Sports Council (NSC), has announced a generous reward of Tk 50 lakh for the team. This significant gesture was made public in an official statement released on Monday, celebrating the squad’s historic victory.
This accolade is not an isolated event; the Ministry and NSC have previously rewarded successful teams, including a remarkable Tk 1 crore for the SAFF-winning Bangladesh women’s football team and Tk 20 lakh for the Under-21 hockey team after their groundbreaking qualification for the Youth Hockey World Cup.
The reward for the U-19 cricket team stands out as the largest, underscoring the importance of their accomplishment.
In the final match, Bangladesh demonstrated their superiority across all facets of the game. After batting first, they set a competitive total of 198 runs. Their bowlers then delivered a stellar performance, dismantling the Indian batting lineup for just 139 runs, resulting in a convincing 69-run victory. The moment was one of pure elation as the team celebrated their back-to-back titles in the tournament.
This victory marks Bangladesh’s second title in the Under-19 Asia Cup, while India remains the most successful team, boasting eight championships.
