1 min read

Wrexham delivered a thrilling FA Cup upset after defeating Nottingham Forest in a tense penalty shootout to secure a place in the fourth round. The victory marked the club’s first win over a Premier League opponent in the competition since 1999.

Ryan Reynolds watched from the stands alongside more than ten thousand fans at Stok Cae Ras as goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo became the hero of the night. Okonkwo stopped Forest’s fifth penalty from Omari Hutchinson to seal a 4 to 3 shootout win after the match ended 3 to 3 following extra time.

The home crowd erupted earlier when Liberato Cacace and Oliver Rathbone scored in rapid succession during the first half. Wrexham appeared to be cruising with a 3 to 1 advantage in a frantic second half, but Forest fought back. Callum Hudson Odoi struck twice in the final minutes to force extra time.

Despite the late drama, Wrexham held their nerve in the shootout. Okonkwo said the team simply wanted to savour the moment after such a dramatic finish.
