Woman Found Dead in Western Sydney Reserve as Detectives Investigate

2 min read

Detectives are canvassing a quiet street in Western Sydney following the death of a woman discovered in a nearby reserve. Police attended Irwin Street in Werrington around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday after a passerby reported seeing her body, which was partially nude and face down in bushland.

Detective Superintendent Trent King described the woman as “potentially middle-aged” and said she had been at the scene “for a period of time.”

He confirmed that several items were found near the body and will be examined by forensic teams. “At this stage, I don’t believe it was wrapped,” he said. “There were some clothing items and rubbish around the body, but nothing that indicates it was wrapped or concealed.”

Superintendent King emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages, and it is too soon to determine if there are any injuries or signs of sexual assault.

Forensic officers are carefully examining the scene as part of Strike Force Dowerin, which involves Nepean detectives and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad. The Missing Persons Unit is also assisting with the investigation.

When asked whether homicide detectives are involved, Superintendent King said it is necessary until they can establish the cause of death. The inquiry remains ongoing as authorities work to uncover the circumstances surrounding her death.
