Woman fighting for life after alleged domestic violence assault

Following a horrifying alleged incident of domestic violence at a Northern Territory shopping center, a woman is battling for her life.

 

On Monday, police were summoned to the Katherine Central retail center in response to complaints that a man had attacked a 49-year-old lady several times with an “edged weapon.”

The woman was rushed to Katherine Hospital in critical condition and later flown to Royal Darwin Hospital for further treatment.

Police arrested a 49-year-old man at the scene.

Authorities have confirmed that the pair are known to each other.

“Investigations are ongoing and police are currently conducting interviews with witnesses,” a police spokesperson said.
