Sydney, Australia: Authorities have issued fresh weather warnings for parts of New South Wales as a slow‑moving rain system threatens to trigger flash flooding in already saturated regions.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) said the heaviest falls are expected across the Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, and parts of the Hunter Valley, with some areas forecast to receive more than 150mm over the next 48 hours. Emergency services have urged residents in low‑lying communities to prepare evacuation plans and avoid driving through floodwaters.
NSW State Emergency Service (SES) spokesperson Andrea Cantle said crews were on high alert. “We’ve pre‑positioned resources in flood‑prone areas and are working closely with local councils to ensure communities are ready,” she said.
The warnings come as the state continues to recover from a series of damaging storms earlier this month, which caused widespread power outages and property damage. Authorities have reminded residents to monitor official updates and heed all evacuation orders if issued.
