WA Police spot missing Margaret River couple

1 min read

Following a camping trip in the Western Australian Outback, a couple went missing for almost a week, raising concerns about their welfare. The Police Air Wing has since located the missing couple.

On Sunday, October 6, Douglas Sims, 68, and Ena Melville, 62, were scheduled to return to their Margaret River home after travelling more than 1700 kilometers to Warburton.

However, since Monday, September 30, the couple had not been contacted. During a search of a location around 130 kilometers south of Warburton on Tuesday afternoon, the couple was spotted by Police Air Wing.

They did not seem to be in distress or need of help, according to WA Police, but this could not be verified because authorities could not get in touch with them.

The couple had not been in contact with family since September 30 and concerns were held for their welfare. The Warburton area recently experienced heavy rainfall with some road closures still in place. To finish a welfare check, Warburton police officers are currently making their way to the scene.
