USMNT Beat Japan in Key World Cup Warm‑Up

Nashville, USA: The United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) secured a morale‑boosting 2‑0 win over Japan in an international friendly, just nine months before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Alejandro Zendejas opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a curling strike from the edge of the box, before Christian Pulisic doubled the lead in the second half after a slick passing move.

Coach Mauricio Pochettino praised his side’s “intensity and discipline” but warned there was still work to be done ahead of the tournament. The US defence, marshalled by Chris Richards and Tim Ream, kept Japan’s attack quiet, limiting them to just two shots on target.

The win comes after a run of mixed results for the USMNT and is seen as a timely confidence boost as they prepare for a tougher schedule in the coming months.
