US Allows Some Embassy Staff to Leave Israel Amid Rising Safety Concerns

1 min read

The United States has authorized the departure of select embassy personnel and their families from Israel, citing growing safety risks as regional tensions continue to escalate. The announcement was made Friday in a statement posted by the US Embassy on X, underscoring Washington’s heightened concern over the security environment.

The embassy warned that further restrictions on the movement of US government employees could be imposed without notice, including limitations on travel to parts of Israel, Jerusalem’s Old City, and the West Bank. The advisory also urged American citizens currently in Israel to consider leaving while commercial flights remain available, a signal that conditions could deteriorate quickly.

The move comes as travel disruptions and heightened security measures continue across the country. Images from Ben Gurion Airport earlier showed travelers rushing to depart after Israeli police temporarily closed main access roads following the activation of air defenses in response to a missile launched from Yemen.

With diplomatic staff now being offered the option to leave and travel warnings intensifying, the US joins a growing list of nations advising caution or evacuation as uncertainty deepens across the region.
