Urgent Alert: Dimboola Residents Ordered to Shelter Amidst Raging Bushfire

Residents of Dimboola, located in western Victoria, are facing a dire situation as a bushfire rages uncontrollably in Little Desert National Park, close to the South Australian border. An evacuation order was issued at 6:46 PM on Monday, impacting not only Dimboola but also the nearby communities of Pimpinio and Wail.

Authorities have closed the Western Highway between Horsham and Dimboola, urging evacuees to avoid traveling south. The fire is advancing northward toward Nhill, posing a grave threat to lives and properties.

In light of the escalating danger, residents in nearby communities, including Gerang Gerung, Kiata, Kinimakatka, Lawloit, Little Desert, Winiam, and Winiam East, are advised to take shelter immediately. The fires, ignited by dry lightning amidst extreme fire danger conditions, have led to a warning for visitors and campers to evacuate the national park without delay.

Additionally, a “Watch and Act” message has been issued for surrounding areas, including Kinimakatka, Winiam West, Duchembegarra, Cooack, Goroke, Minimay, Peronne, and Nurcoung, highlighting the urgent need for vigilance as the situation develops. Residents are urged to stay informed and prioritize their safety as the fire continues to threaten the region.
