Unseasonal Storms Threaten Western and Central WA with Heavy Rainfall and Winds

1 min read

The Bureau of Meteorology has warned of unseasonal rain and possible thunderstorms across western and central Western Australia, bringing risks of damaging winds and heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding.

Meteorologist Jessica Lingard reported a significant area of potentially severe thunderstorms affecting central and western parts of the state, with heavy rain and strong gusts expected. This weather system is anticipated to persist until Thursday.

The heaviest impact is forecast from Shark Bay to the central Wheatbelt, with up to 30mm of rainfall possible. Perth may also experience thunderstorms later today, especially in the eastern suburbs where conditions could be severe.

Currently, no severe weather warnings are in place, but this may change as conditions evolve. The potential for thunderstorms continues into tomorrow as atmospheric warmth could lead to further system development.

Perth Weather Forecast:

  • Tuesday: Max 29°C, partly cloudy, medium chance of showers.
  • Wednesday: Max 25°C, min 17°C, partly cloudy, medium chance of showers, possible thunderstorm.
