Unseasonable Heat to Sweep Eastern US as Temperatures Jump to Summer‑Like Levels

1 min read

Much of the eastern United States is set for an early burst of summer, with the National Weather Service forecasting unseasonably warm temperatures across the Mid‑Atlantic and Southeast this week. From Tuesday, April 14, through Thursday, April 16, parts of the region are expected to climb into the upper 80s, with heat indices in some areas reaching 90 degrees.

The Weather Prediction Center said on X that parts of the East Coast will get “their first taste of Summer,” while the New York office noted a “pronounced warm‑up” beginning Monday and lasting through most of the week.

The warm spell comes on the heels of the hottest March ever recorded in the contiguous United States, with temperature records dating back more than 130 years.

While the East Coast heats up, the central United States is bracing for severe thunderstorms, highlighting the stark weather contrasts unfolding across the country.
