United Airlines to Roll Out New Premium Fare Tiers in Major Shake‑Up for 2024

United Airlines is set to overhaul its premium‑cabin pricing, announcing plans to introduce a three‑tier fare structure for long‑haul international routes, U.S. transcontinental flights and select services to Hawaii.

The airline confirmed on Friday that customers flying in premium cabins will soon be able to choose between base, standard and flexible fare options mirroring the tiered system already used in United’s economy class. The move reflects a broader industry trend, with major U.S. carriers increasingly tailoring their business models around premium travellers, corporate clients and loyalty‑program members who tend to maintain spending even when fares rise.

United expects to launch the new fare categories in select markets this month, with a wider rollout across long‑haul and transcontinental routes later in the year.

“These new tiered options give customers more choice and make it easier to find a fare that includes the benefits they want most whether that’s a great value, added perks, or maximum flexibility,” said Andrew Nocella, United’s chief commercial officer.

The shift underscores the airline’s strategy to capture more revenue from high‑yield passengers at a time when competition for premium flyers is fiercer than ever.
