Unheard Michael Jackson Tracks Discovered in Storage Unit

2 min read

A retired California highway patrolman, Gregg Musgrove, has unexpectedly found himself in possession of a collection of unreleased Michael Jackson songs. These tracks, however, may never be heard by the public.

Musgrove acquired the tapes after an associate bought a storage unit in Van Nuys, which once belonged to music producer Bryan Loren. Loren, known for collaborations with Whitney Houston and Sting, is currently unreachable.

The storage unit contained 12 unreleased tracks recorded during the lead-up to Jackson’s 1991 “Dangerous” album. Unfortunately for fans, the Jackson estate has asserted its copyright over all of the singer’s recordings, preventing any public release of these songs.

The estate confirmed that the master recordings reside in its vaults, rendering the discovered digital-audio tapes (DAT) unusable for any commercial purpose.

Musgrove revealed that some of these tracks had only been rumored or partially leaked, while a few were entirely unknown. The tapes even capture conversations between Jackson and Loren about the creative process.

Despite the legal hurdles, Musgrove plans to offer the tapes to major auction houses, anticipating significant interest from potential buyers. Past sales of Jackson memorabilia have fetched high prices, such as a crystal-studded glove purchased by Lady Gaga and a “Bad” tour jacket that sold for $240,000.
