The Ukrainian Navy has carried out another strike on Russia’s energy infrastructure in the Black Sea, destroying two tanker ships, officials confirmed. According to a Ukrainian naval officer speaking to Reuters, the tankers Kairos and Virat were hit by naval drones yesterday.
Ukraine has long targeted Russia’s oil and commercial infrastructure, and the latest attack is part of that ongoing campaign.
Reports indicate the vessels were empty at the time of the strike, en route to Novorossiysk, a port city on Russia’s Black Sea coast, to load oil for export. Both ships were destroyed mid-journey.
The incident has further escalated tensions in the Black Sea and raised new concerns over the security of Russia’s energy transport routes.
