Amid ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, the United States is deploying warships to the region. The USS Nimitz has recently arrived in the Indo-Pacific area, and the USS George Washington has left Japan. These ships may also be sent to the Middle East if necessary.
U.S. officials confirmed that since Thursday night, the U.S. has actively participated in countering Iran’s ballistic missile attacks launched in retaliation for strikes on Israel’s nuclear facilities and military leaders.
Off-the-record sources revealed that additional security measures have been implemented at military bases across the Middle East. These steps are part of covert military operations and have not been publicly disclosed.
One U.S. official stated that while approximately 30,000 American troops are usually stationed in the Middle East, the current number has increased to around 40,000. During October 2024, amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, and increased attacks by Houthi rebels in Yemen, the troop count in the region reached 43,000.
The deployment of the USS Nimitz and USS George Washington in the Indo-Pacific and their potential redeployment to the Middle East reflect the U.S. strategy to reinforce its presence and readiness in response to the escalating situation.
