Two Serious WA Road Incidents Within an Hour

1 min read

A tragic afternoon on Western Australian roads has left one man dead and a young child seriously injured in separate crashes on Friday.

At about 4:40pm, a 72-year-old motorcycle rider collided with a car on Tonkin Highway in Kewdale, Perth’s south-east. He suffered critical injuries and later died in hospital.

Less than an hour later, around 5:15pm, a two-year-old was struck by a Mitsubishi Pajero near the intersection of Weerwar Crescent and Landor Street in South Yunderup, close to Mandurah. The child was taken to Perth Children’s Hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash‑cam footage from either incident to come forward.

The crashes come as WA’s road toll edges toward a 20‑year high, with Road Safety Commission figures showing 127 fatalities since the start of the year.
