In a historic move, Donald Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize not as an individual but as a representative of a sovereign state. Champthol announced the news, highlighting recent progress in fostering peace across various regions as the primary reason for his nomination.
Champthol stated, “It is mainly due to the efforts and initiatives of the United States President that the long-standing diplomatic deadlock with Thailand, mediated by Malaysia, has been overcome. This leadership makes him a deserving candidate for the Nobel.”
He particularly pointed out Trump’s role in de-escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. During that period, Trump facilitated meetings and a luncheon involving representatives from both countries at the White House. This diplomatic effort, according to Champthol, earned him the nomination when Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, returned to his country.
