A devastating accident in Western Australia’s South West has claimed the life of a 15-year-old girl and left several others injured. The crash occurred Saturday night on Scarp Road near the intersection with Hoffman Road in Hoffman, just east of Harvey, around 8 p.m.
Police reports indicate that a Toyota Landcruiser, carrying six teenagers, lost control and rolled multiple times. The vehicle was driven by a 16-year-old male at the time of the crash. Despite emergency efforts, the 15-year-old girl died at the scene from her injuries.
Emergency services transported the driver, a 17-year-old male passenger, and two 16-year-old female passengers to Bunbury Regional Hospital. A hospital spokesperson confirmed that one of these individuals remains in serious condition, while the others are considered stable. Additionally, an 18-year-old male passenger was taken to Harvey Regional Hospital by police.
In accordance with Western Australian licensing laws, individuals under 17 cannot hold a full driver’s license. While 16-year-olds can obtain a learner’s permit, they must be accompanied by a supervising driver with at least four years of licensed experience.
Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances leading to the crash and are examining the scene. They are also appealing to the public for dash cam footage of the Hoffman area to aid their inquiries.
