A devastating landslide struck the pilgrimage route to the Vaishno Devi temple in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, claiming at least 31 lives. Triggered by relentless rainfall, the disaster occurred near the Indraprastha dining area, where a section of the hillside collapsed, burying dozens of pilgrims under mud and rocks.
Rescue teams have pulled 23 survivors from the debris, now receiving treatment at Katra Community Health Care. The temple authorities, police, and security forces launched immediate rescue operations, later joined by national disaster response units and paramilitary teams who worked through the night.
