A school bus carrying 28 students from Christian College Geelong rolled over on a rural road near Geelong on Wednesday, leaving one girl dead and 11 others injured.
Police said the bus failed to negotiate a left-hand turn before veering off the road and overturning. Emergency crews described the crash scene as “incredibly confronting,” with senior officer Paul Lineham expressing deep sympathy for the families affected.
One child was airlifted to hospital in serious condition, while 10 others including the 76‑year‑old driver were taken to hospital by road. The driver has since been discharged and is assisting police with their investigation.
Authorities are examining all possible factors, including the vehicle and road conditions, to determine the cause of the fatal crash.
