In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the community, seven teenagers have been arrested following the fatal stabbing of a 58-year-old man at a pizza shop in Sydney’s west. Emergency services responded to calls on Tuesday night at approximately 10:20 PM along the Great Western Highway, near Kingswood Train Station.
Upon arrival, responders discovered the man with a single stab wound to his chest. Despite the immediate treatment provided by NSW Ambulance paramedics, he was later pronounced dead at Westmead Hospital. Superintendent King described the scene as “confronting,” noting that the injury was “gruesome” and fatal from the moment it was inflicted.
In the wake of the tragedy, police launched a swift investigation, leading to the arrest of six individuals — two girls aged 13 and 16, three boys aged 15, and a 17-year-old, along with a 19-year-old man. They were apprehended at various locations in Werrington, South Penrith, and Penrith before being taken to local police stations for questioning.
Additionally, a 15-year-old boy was arrested later at St Marys Police Station, further expanding the group of individuals under investigation. As of now, no formal charges have been laid, and authorities emphasize that it is still early in the investigation. Superintendent King stated that they are treating the arrested individuals as persons of interest.
Detectives from the Nepean Police Area Command, with support from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, are actively reviewing CCTV and dashcam footage from the area to piece together the events leading up to the stabbing.
The investigation remains ongoing as police seek to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
