Long lines formed on Saturday afternoon as a result of a vehicle fire on a major road north of Sydney.
The vehicle was carrying a speedway car at the time, and fire crews were called to the M1 Pacific Mwy at Mount Ku-ring-gai at about 1 pm.
The driver was not required to be assessed by paramedics.
Photos from the 7NEWS helicopter showed heavy traffic banked up as two of three southbound lanes have been closed.
By Saturday evening one southbound lane had reopened.
