Thousands of Rounds of Ammunition Stolen from German Army Delivery Truck

Germany’s Defense Ministry has confirmed that several thousand rounds of ammunition were stolen from a delivery truck en route to a Bundeswehr barracks in Burg.

The theft occurred when the civilian-owned truck carrying the ammunition was parked overnight at a hotel parking lot in Burg. Upon arrival at the barracks the following day, officials discovered that a large quantity of ammunition was missing.

An inventory check revealed the loss of approximately 10,000 rounds of live pistol ammunition and 9,900 rounds of assault rifle training ammunition.

The Defense Ministry described the incident as extremely serious, stressing that such ammunition must not fall into the wrong hands. Officials believe the theft may have been facilitated by the driver stopping at an unauthorized location.

The Bundeswehr, with assistance from local police, has launched an investigation.
