The death toll from the tragic gas cylinder explosion in Dhaka’s Aftabnagar has risen to three, as another victim succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at a city hospital. The latest victim is identified as 45-year-old Tofazzel Hossain.
Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, a resident surgeon at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, confirmed that Tofazzel passed away around 5:30 am. He had sustained burns covering 80 percent of his body in the blast.
Two other victims are still being treated at the same institute. The explosion, which occurred early Friday, injured all five members of the family, including three children.
Among the injured, 35-year-old Munsura Begum and her 4-year-old daughter Tanzila died on Sunday and Monday respectively. The remaining two children, Mithila, 7, and Tanisha, 11, are currently undergoing treatment for their injuries.
The incident has left the community mourning as authorities continue to provide medical assistance to the survivors.
