Thailand Takes Off with Free Flights for Foreign Tourists

1 min read

Thailand is launching a bold new travel perk to boost tourism: free domestic flights for international visitors. The initiative aims to encourage at least 200,000 foreign tourists to explore beyond the usual hotspots and discover the country’s rich regional diversity by the end of 2025.

Upon arrival, eligible travelers will receive either a one-way or round-trip domestic flight ticket at no cost, along with a generous 20kg baggage allowance. The offer is designed to make it easier for tourists to venture into Thailand’s cultural heartlands, scenic coastlines, and lesser-known gems.

Six major airlines are expected to participate, offering routes that connect Bangkok to destinations like Chiang Mai, Krabi, Phuket, and Udon Thani. The government will cover the cost of these tickets, with subsidies set to run from August through December. Travel under the program will be valid between September and November.

Officials anticipate the campaign will inject billions into the economy, not just through direct spending but by revitalizing local tourism sectors and small businesses. With global travel patterns shifting and competition rising, Thailand is positioning itself as a destination that’s not just welcoming but rewarding.
