In the war‑crimes case over the killing of Abu Sayeed a student of Begum Rokeya University and the first martyr of the July 2024 mass uprising investigation officer Ruhul Amin is set to testify for the third consecutive day against former vice‑chancellor Hasibur Rashid and 30 other accused.
The testimony will take place on Monday (29 December) before International Crimes Tribunal‑2, led by Chairman Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury. The other members of the three‑judge panel are retired district and sessions judge Md Manjurul Basid and district and sessions judge Nur Mohammad Shahriar Kabir.
What Today’s Testimony Will Cover
At the start of today’s deposition, the investigation officer is expected to outline the individual responsibilities of the accused. He will then describe the full sequence of events surrounding the murder.
On Sunday, Ruhul Amin presented details regarding the involvement of 16 of the accused. He is expected to complete testimony on the remaining individuals today. He is being recorded as the 25th witness in the case.
During his deposition, he is detailing:
Where and when evidence was collected
What items were seized
How the investigation unfolded
His testimony began on 18 December, after which defence lawyers for both arrested and fugitive accused will cross‑examine him.
Earlier Testimonies
Before Ruhul Amin, on 10 December, special investigation officer and prosecutor Tanvir Hasan Zoha gave his statement. On the same day, SI Md Kamrul Hossain, the record keeper of the investigation agency, also testified.
In total, 25 witnesses have now given statements in the case.
