Tennis Power Couple Inglis and Kubler Celebrate Dual Australian Open Breakthrough

2 min read

Newly engaged tennis pair Maddison Inglis and Jason Kubler are heading into the Australian Open on a high after both secured main draw qualification within the same hour, turning the day into a shared career milestone.

Kubler mounted an impressive comeback in his final qualifying match against Alexander Blockx. After dropping the first set, he fought back to level the contest before the German retired early in the third with Kubler leading 3-6, 6-3, 1-0. The win marked a meaningful return for the Australian.

“I wasn’t sure if I would be back,” he said. “I played the Open a couple years ago, and it’s been a bit of a bumpy ride since then. But fortunately for me, today it worked out, and I get another chance, which is nice.”

Moments later, Kubler watched Inglis deliver a composed 6-4, 6-4 victory over Germany’s Tamara Korpatsch, earning her first main draw appearance since 2022.

“To see her get over the hump and qualify is just so cool,” he said. “I would actually say I felt happier watching her do that than I did at the end of my match.”

The couple now enters the tournament with momentum and a shared sense of achievement, making their Australian Open campaign one of the feel good stories of the season.
