Television host and journalist Munni Saha has been arrested following an incident in the Karwan Bazar area of Dhaka on Saturday evening. Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Tejgaon division) Md Ruhul Kabir Khan confirmed that local residents surrounded Saha upon spotting her, prompting police intervention.
Authorities reported that police rescued Saha and transported her to the Tejgaon police station before transferring her to the Detective Branch office for further questioning. Md Mobarak Hossain, the officer-in-charge of the police station, stated that her arrest was connected to a case involving killings linked to the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
On October 6, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) had requested banks to provide details of Saha’s financial activities. This inquiry included her deposits, loans, credit cards, foreign trade, money exchange, lockers, and offshore banking accounts. The ongoing investigation reflects the serious nature of the allegations surrounding her involvement in the movement.
As the situation unfolds, the implications of her arrest are being closely monitored by both the media and the public.
